Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some common questions about or products and process.

For a custom comic book, what do you need from me?

The more details about your gift recipient, the better! But, at minimum, we need:

  • Two images: 1 headshot and 1 head-to-toe photo of your gift recipient

  • Your answers to a few questions about the recipient — their hobbies, schools, sports teams.— and what kind of storyline would resonate most with them, so we can craft a truly personal story.

  • Specific details make for a better story! Pictures of pets, friends, books they love, memes that make them laugh — every little detail helps.
What is the page count on the comics?

Our standard comic book is 8 pages, including the front and back covers.

For printing purposes, page counts in multiples of 4 work best.

If you'd like a longer story, send us an email with your page preference. Please note that any pages beyond the standard 8 will affect both the price and estimated delivery time.

Who writes the comic story, me or you?

We write the comic book story, but we use your input to create it. We ask all the right questions to ensure we create a comic story that you love and that is highly personal to the recipient.

Don’t worry if you don’t have any story plot ideas, that’s our specialty. It’s a really fun and easy process for us!

Do you use AI in your creative process?

No, we do NOT use AI. We are serious artists dedicated to our craft. We write original stories, draw original sketches by hand, and deliver to you a one-of-a-kind product.

We feel that most assets created with AI lack “soul” in the final product and are ethically questionable.

Why does it cost so much for a custom comic book and digital rights to superhero images?

Each comic book takes on average 40 hours to produce–approximatley 8 hours are dedicated to each of the following: scripting, sketching, storyline, coloring, and shading. Please see additional details on our process in the next FAQ to see all that goes into your one-of-a-kind final product.

What is the process for how my custom comic book created?

Step 1 — Craft: We outline your hero's likeness and storyline based on your input.

Step 2 — Draft: You'll receive an email with a sketch of your hero and a draft of the storyline.

Step 3 — Feedback: Reply with your feedback and/or approval within 48 hours so we can keep things moving. You're also welcome to request a phone call if it's easier to talk through any changes.

Step 4 — Finalize: We complete the artwork and storyline, then send everything to our fulfillment vendor.

Step 5 — Delivery: Your comic book is printed and mailed straight to your door. 😀

How many photos do I need to supply?

Minimum of two photo images please! But more is appreciated if you’d like to include pets, family members or friends that are relevant to the story you may have envisioned.

Can I make revisions to my comic?

Yes, you can, but there are some guidelines.

All revisions and changes need to be submitted during the Feedback stage. It’s really easy to make edits at this time. We expect timely email replies within 48 hours to keep the final delivery on schedule.

Once we are in the Final stage with final artwork, additional edits will incur a $100 change fee. However this rarely happens as the draft stage gives you a chance to provide all your feedback.

How long will my comic take to create?

We typically recommend a 4-week lead time on an 8-page comic and a 6-week lead time on a 12-page comic, just to be safe. Lead times vary based on our backlog and vendor production times. Remember, our products are original, created by hand…there are no AI robots on our team.

If you need it quickly, message us, and we will see what we can do. A rush fee may apply.

What kind of stories can be turned into a custom comic book?

Movies: Oceans 11, Its a Wonderful Life, John Wick, SpiderMan

Children's books: Oh, the Places You'll Go, Going on a Bear Hunt

Musicals/Theater: Lion King, West Side Story

You choose! Revenge stories, overcoming challenges, fantasy, slice of life comics, real stories adapted to page, even Holiday specials!

The only limit is your imagination and the description you provide.

When is a good time to give my loved one a unique comic book?

Anytime is a good time! However, birthdays, graduations, retirement, holiday gifts, weddings, engagements, anniversaries, and baby showers seem to be fun milestones to mark with a custom comic book.

Can I also get a digital file of my super hero for other uses?

Yes! Just select the Digital image with full reproduction rights at check to receive a high resolution digital file of your custom comic book and/or superhero.

Do you use generative AI in the creation of your art?

No, I do not use any form of generative AI to create my artwork, and I do not plan to.

What tools do you use to create your comics?

I use a Wacom drawing pad with Clip Studio Paint as my software.
